As well as our own Chelsea Flower Show-inspired projects this week, we are absolutely loving the many, wonderful displays that have been created in celebration of this iconic event, including the fabulous display created by our friends over at Geraniums at the Door. The iconic entrance of The Zetter Townhouse in Clerkenwell (a gorgeous, boutique hotel, with possibly one of the most photographed doorways in London) has been festooned with over 200 geraniums in deepest burgundy to palest pink, as part of the Chelsea Fringe festival.
The Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell, a Georgian landmark of classic architectural beauty, is renowned for its quirky and surprising interior where strident colours, heritage textiles and taxidermy interplay with contemporary design, and we think this floral installation reflects this tradition beautifully.
The installation, co-designed by award-winning garden designers, Claudia de Yong and Indoor Garden Design, is a celebration of geraniums, a ubiquitous city bloom, garlanding the ironwork high above the doorway and stretching down to ground level in a burst of vivid colour. Added to this are traditional horticultural elements of ivy and box, interwoven with aged, vintage wood and some playful animal sculptures for an eccentric twist befitting this remarkable townhouse.
In celebration of Chelsea Fringe, Zetter Townhouse Clerkenwell has also devised a menu of floral-inspired cocktails (our favourite kind), available from the Cocktail Lounge from 19-27 May. why not pop down for a tipple?
