McQueens Announces Course Dates for 2018 with Russian River Flower School
McQueens Flower School is very excited to mark our 20th anniversary celebrations with a return trip to Dundee Butcher’s Russian River Flower School, California for May 2018. We had the wonderful pleasure of teaching a class at one of America’s most innovative flower schools last year, and what a fantastic success and incredible fun that turned out to be! So for 2018, we plan to recreate the magic with a new one-week class in Healdsburg. The five-day course will be a collaborative marriage where the best of McQueens signature designs meets the magnificence of California’s wonderful flora –and sprinkled with a little Southern charm and magic, courtesy of Russian River Flower School founder, the inimitable Dundee Butcher.
The theme for this year’s class is celebration, and the course will focus on party and events designs. While we focus on celebrating the 20th anniversary of McQueens Flower School, and the course will also give a respectful nod to another Anglo-American collaboration on the other side of the pond, namely a certain landmark wedding to be held in Windsor in the same month! We plan to mark the occasion with a large, wedding-inspired group project, working on-site at Front Porch Farm to create a wonderful installation bursting with flowers and worthy of such a magnificent celebration! The class will also include a talk from Kaye Heafey of CHCF, the premiere clematis farm in California (and arguably, the whole west coast). She will share her knowledge into this increasingly popular flower, as well as her insights into running a successful flower farm in the USA.
‘I am so excited by the announcement of our second collaborative class here in Healdsburg for 2018,’ says Russian River Flower School Founder Dundee Butcher. ‘Our class last year exceeded all our expectations and we had the most amazing time with the McQueens team and our students. This year promises to be just as much fun, and May is a glorious time of year for flowers in California. I am particularly excited to be working with Front Porch Farm this year; they are one of my favourite suppliers, and I know their spectacular flowers and the unique farm setting will make a unique and unforgettable experience for our students.’
