We’ve been celebrating Christmas in true McQueens style with a festive ‘Made by McQueens‘ series, showing our talented florists as they whip up some fabulous, Yuletide-inspired designs. Third in the series is senior contracts florist Karim Duc who opted for a rustic, festive bouquet using some of the season’s finest fresh materials.
“If I’m being honest, I’m not a huge fan of Christmas, but I absolutely adore some of the seasonal varieties that crop up around this time, especially ranunculi which are currently in their prime,” says Karim. “I wanted to create something with lots of lovely textures and depth to it, and I chose a hand-tied bouquet because it’s just such a classic design — it’s my favourite thing to do and I think it’s an opportunity for all florists to show their very best skills. I pictured this design for display on a beautiful marble kitchen table, the perfect backdrop for a festive lunch or dinner. It looks beautiful from afar and when you look closer you see all of the details, foliages, berries, thistles, wood, apples, and of course the combination of pink, white and Hanoi ranunculus.
