We are celebrating British flowers for one of our favourite, flowery landmarks in the calendar, British Flowers Week, from 19 – 25 June.
Started by the New Covent Garden Flower Market in 2013 the aim is to shine a spotlight on glorious British flowers. The week has events up and down the country with many florists taking part to celebrate. In addition, the campaign will be showcasing 5 well-known florists who will each be designing and championing British flowers in their own, unique way.
McQueens Flower school were delighted to celebrate glorious British flowers by creating a flower wall with students on one of our four-week vocational courses.
‘We have loved highlighting this wonderful initiative’ says McQueens head tutor Emily Mathison. “It’s always a pleasure to work with British flowers and we regularly buy British for the school and throughout the departments at McQueens. Our group of students worked together to create a wall of flowers and we used a combination of British grown roses, peonies, stocks, and cornflower. The quality of British flowers seems to improve year on year and the wall looked spectacular when it was finished, making the perfect selfie backdrop!’
