My McQueens Wedding: Freddie & Tony

If we ever we needed a reminder that love is all you need, it was this weekend. And on Saturday 3 June, there was plenty of love in the air as McQueens staff turned out en force to witness the wedding of our very own school administrator, Freddie, to his civil partner, Tony. It was a glorious day of celebration that stretched on into the evening with feasting and fun, music and merriment, and enough love to bring big beaming smiles to all our faces.

Inspired by The Wizard of Oz for The Berkeley

The Berkeley Hotel is celebrating Belgravia in Bloom this week as the country rejoices in the world’s most famous flower extravaganza, The RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The theme for this year’s Belgravia in Bloom is children’s stories, which soon got Team McQueens’ creative juices flowing! After some careful deliberation and a chocolate biscuit or two, we decided to head on down the yellow brick road with our own homage to L. Frank Baum’s classic children’s tale, The Wizard of Oz.

Update: Since publication, we are delighted to announce that our flowery homage to The Wizard of Oz won top prize in the Belgravia in Bloom awards! Congratulations to our fabulous team of McQueens florists for creating yet another, magical, award-winning deign.

McQueens Bursary 2017: the Winner Interview

Cast your mind back to the beginning of January, and you may well remember that for the very first time, we launched a unique bursary award to the  McQueens Flower School. It meant that we were offering one free place on our four-week vocational course to an aspiring florist; it was our way of celebrating our 25th anniversary, and helping encourage a new generation of talent.

How to Create a Christmas Wreath

What could be more festive that a fabulous Christmas wreath adorned with glittering ornaments? As the season descends upon us, wreaths become de rigeur as front doors across the nation await their jubilant makeovers. Admittedly, as florists, we’ll be the first to confess that wreath-making isn’t top of our ‘favourites’ list; among other things, Spaghnum moss can often arrive hosting a lovely array of unwanted visitors (aka creepy-crawlies), and the novelty soon wears off once you’ve battled to make several in a row.
