We love a party, especially at Christmas, so were delighted to create flowers for a special event hosted by Clarins for a select gathering of a beauty bloggers in Mayfair. The event was held at Berry Bros. & Rudd on St James’s Street, which was founded in 1698. Little has changed with the outward appearance of the shop since the seventeenth century, and it has a rich history that’s as fascinating as its facade. The shop began life selling provisions, exotic spices, tea and coffee, and eventually became noted as a fine wine merchant with a reputation that spread all around the world. They’ve welcomed many famous visitors throughout their history and hold two royal warrants.
The outside door of the shop was dressed with two identical festive wreaths made from olive foliage and dressed with red ribbon. Guests were welcomed with a champagne reception, beautifully lit by candles, and were then led downstairs though displays of historically important artefacts collected by the business over the centuries. A delightful festive welcome was guaranteed on entering the Napoleon Cellar where a long table was set for a magical night of enjoyment with more candles and garlands created with olive foliage. Orange citrus fruits were artistically placed along the length of the table. The room was completed with two Christmas trees and a placement of storm lanterns, tea lights and citrus fruits for a wonderful and intimate welcome for guests.
‘Candlelight is perfect to create an intimate atmosphere for any gathering, and it’s always something that we will suggest for a party, especially in the winter,’ Says Poppy Frost, McQueens head of weddings and special events. ‘Using a mass of candlelight on a long table looks spectacular and it was great to see the transformation when the room was complete and the all the candles were lit. The orange citrus fruit looked amazing both on the table and attached to the Christmas trees and gave a subtle festive fragrance that added to the festive occasion!’
